Job or Vacancy Description:
Applications are invited up to 10thJulv. 2012 for the posts of Scientist’E’ at the following Institutes/Centres in the Pay Band-4 of Rs.37400-67000 Plus Grade Pay Rs.8700/- and usual allowances as admissible as per Government norms;
Name of the post : Scientist’E’
VECTOR CONTROL RESERCH CENTRE, (VCRC), PONDICHERRY.
Essential Qualification & Experience :
(i) MBBS degree recognized b¥ MCI.
(ii) Ten years R&D experience in recognized Institute(s)after obtaining essential qualification (i) above, out of which at least 3 years in managerial position to handle R &D projects in a team effectively in directing capacity.
Desirable Qualification :
(i) MD in Community Medicine /Social & Preventive Medicine/General Medicine from a recognized University.
(ii) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching experience in relevant fields – Vector Borne Disease/Communicable disease/Infectious diseases as evidenced by Publications in PEER reviewed journals.
(iii) Knowledge of Computer Applications.
Job Requirements :
The incumbent is expected to lead a team of Junior Researchers and should have the. capability to formulate, execute and interpret Scientific Research works on Vector borne diseases. The candidate should be willing for both field and clinic-based work. The candidate is also. expected to have a good knowledge on the application of epidemiological tools in diagnosis, control of communicable diseases and software like Epi-info, SPSS, etc. The incumbent should be willing” to get involved in the training of Post-Graduate students in the field of Public Health, vector borne diseases and evaluation of Public Health Programmes and epidemic investigations in collaboration with the respective State Health Department.
REGIONAL MEDICAL RESEARCH CENTRE, (RMRC), BELGAUM.
Essential Qualification & Experience :
(i) MBBS degree recognized by MCI Or 1st class Master’s degree in Life Sciences related subjects/ Epidemiology/ Natural Product Chemistry from a. recognized University or equivalent Or 2nd Class Master’s Degree + Ph.D. Degree in above subjects from a recognized University or equivalent.
(ii) Ten years R&D experience in the above mentioned subjects in recognized institute(s) after obtaining essential qualification (i) above, out of which at least 3 years in a managerial position to handle R&D projects in a team effectively in a directing capacity.
Desirable Qualification :
(i) Doctorate Degree in above mentioned subjects or MD from a recognized University in Microbiology/Epidemiology/Pharmacology.
(ii) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching experience in above mentioned subjects in recognized institute(s).
(Hi) Knowledge of computer applications.
Job Requirements :
i) To plan, supervise and carry out research in the field of Microbiology/ Molecular Biology/ Molecular Epidemiology. The candidate should be capable of independently formulating research programmes with an emphasis on developing strong interdisciplinary research programmes.
ii) To assist the Director in charge in administrative matters relating to research, training and general activities of the Centre.
iii) To organize / assist! coordinate human resource development programmes of the Centre.
NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH IN REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH, (NIRRH), MUMBAI
Essential Qualification & Experience :
(i) MBBS degree recognized by MCI.
(ii) Ten years R&D experience in the field of obstetrics/ gynecology from recognized Institute(s) after obtaining essential qualification (i) above, out of which at least 3 years in a managerial position to handle R&D projects in a team effectively in a directing capacity.
Desirable Qualification :
(i) M.D.in obstetrics and gynecology from a recognized University.
(ii) Additional post doctoral research experience with publications in peer reputed journals in relevant subject.
Job Requirements :
The incumbent is required to work in the area of Reproductive Health. He/She should lead a team of researchers and should have capability to formulate and execute Clinical Research projects in the area of Reproductive Health. He/She should also assist the Director in day-to-day activities and in planning of research programme undertaken at the Institute.
NATIONAL CENTRE FOR DISEASE INFORMATICS AND RESEARCH (NCDIR),
BANGALORE.
Essential Qualification & Experience :
(i) MBBS degree recognized by MCI.
(ii) Ten years R&D/teaching experience in Medicine/Surgery/P&SM, Pathology/Radiotherapy/Biochemistry/Pharmacology/related medical subjects in recognized institutes after obtaining essential qualification (i) above, out of which atleast 3 years experience in a managerial position to handle R & D projects in a team effectively in a directing capacity.
Desirable Qualification :
i) M.D. in Medicine/Surgery/P&SM, Pathology/Radiotherapy/Biochem./Pharmacology/related medical subjects from a recognized university.
ii) Additional Post doctoral research /teaching experience in the relevant subjects.
iii) Knowledge of Computer Applications.
Job requirements : To develop, programmes for research and training, plan and undertake tasks as per the centre’s profile indicated above. The Scientist will have the complete and overall responsibility in not only developing and sustaining the disease data bases but also in translating such data bases into valid medical and scientific information that is of relevance. Interacting and coordinating with the research/academic institutions across the country will be a major task. Planning projects and research protocols in epidemiology and aspects of patient care is another activity. The incumbent is expected to lead a team of Junior Researchers and should have the capability to formulate, execute and interpret Scientific Research Information on Cancer, CVD, Diabetes and Stroke.
AGE LIMIT : Not exceeding 50 years.
Pay Scale : Pay Band-4 Rs.37400-67000 Plus Grade Pay Rs.8700/-.

d) Crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) for Rs.l 00/- (Rupees One hundred only) payable to the Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi. SC/ST and physically handicapped (PH candidates) are exempted from the application fee. IPOs are payable by all other candidates including ICMR employees.
General Instructions:
1.Candidates belonging to SC/ST and OBC communities will have to furnish certificate from prescribed authority in the required format failing which they will not be entitled to the concession admissible to them if any.
2.The number of vacancies to be filled may vary at the time of actual selection. In the event of non-availability of suitable candidates for the advertised posts, the positions can be filled up at lower level.  Allowances as per Central Government rules are admissible on the prescribed pay scales.
3.Candidates called for interview for the post of Director/Scientist-E, Scientist-D will be paid Ist class rail fare and for the post of Scientist-C and Scientist-B will be paid 2nd Class rail fare by shortest route on production of documents.  No TA/DA is admissible for joining the post or on termination of appointment.
4.The name of the post of applied for advertisement reference. Institute/Centre must be indicated in the application form.  Separate application form should be submitted for each post along with application fee by Crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) for Rs.100/- (Rupees One hundred only) payable to the Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi.
5.Application from employees working in Centre/State Government Department/Public Sector Undertakings & Govt. funded research agencies must be forwarded through proper channel along with the certificate of the employer that the applicant will be relieved within three months of his/her receipt of appointment orders.
6.Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview/personal discussion, the applicants will be short-listed for this purpose through written test or by departmental screening committee.  The decision of the Director General, ICMR will be final in this regard.
