Nepal earthquake - rescue continues as death toll exceeds 2,500 peoples.

More than 5000 people were injured after the magnitude 7.9 earthquake struck late on Saturday morning i.e. 25th April 2015. Dozens of aftershocks, including a powerful temblor on Sunday afternoon, have jolted Nepal over the weekend, forcing thousands of people to shelter where they can. On Sunday afternoon, climbers left stranded by initial avalanches on Everest were again in fear for their lives after a magnitude 6.7 aftershock triggered more avalanches. 

The aftershock was the most powerful since the initial earthquake- itself the strongest since Nepal's worst earthquake, in 1934, in which 8500 people died.

The 7.9 magnitude earthquake leveled buildings mostly in the historic section of Kathmandu, including the landmark nine-story Dharahara Tower, which was reduced to rubble with many people still inside. The tower, built in 1832, is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the city and one of the most prominent buildings destroyed by Saturday's earthquake. As many as 250 people are thought to have been inside when the quake hit, according to Al Jazeera.
